 Found this board searching for info on the Santee Cooper lakes. I am a member of the 'Fishing Notebook' in Oklahoma. I live in Lawrence Kansas(Jayhawker). I'll be heading your way in September to compete in the Crappie USA Classic. Any info that you will give me will be appreciated. <*)}}}>< |

Hey, welcome to the forums! We've just recently opened, and we're hoping folks will start joining and chatting.
What kind of information are you looking for? Santee is supposed to be a fantastic place to fish, though I've never made it down there. Hear they have monster cats and big stripers. |

Dear Crappie Chatt,
I don't know much about Santee Cooper either but from seeing it on T.V. shows it looks like you need to concentrate on the timber structure located through out the lake. Good Luck in the tournament. Hambone |

 Sportsman,,Thanks for replying. I'll be after crappies!! Have heard about the shallow stumps. We only get a day & a half to practice so,,,need to make every minute count on the water. I would like places and patterns that could help. Both lakes, Marion and Moultrie are slated to fish. Which is better or what would be the best for late September. I'm at a loss for these lakes. <*)}}}>< |

I've found a bit of information for you that may help. Here's a quote from a South Carolina Fish and Game magazine article:
[the author] suggests Lake Marion over Lake Moultrie for any angler who is not extremely familiar with the Santee-Cooper lakes and does not know the locations of some specific beds to fish. The best fishing is over sunken brush in open water on both of these very old lakes, and brush is far easier to find in Marion's creeks than in the vast open waters of Lake Moultrie. |
